The temperature had dropped quickly and so my wife’s father set the fire. And a beast of a fire it is. A masonry heater more specifically and it is a thing of pure beauty. They had to dig down and reinforce the foundations before constructing it.
According to my father-in-law – during the autumnal period – he only needs to burn wood twice a day and even then only 800g twice. After that, there’s enough heat stored and radiated out that it keeps the place warm. Of course, in winter he needs to use more. It can get bitterly cold in Poland.
